Waka TV App Download APK: How to Install It on Any Android Device

Not every Android device has the Google Play Store — many TV boxes, older Android TVs and newer Huawei phones don't. For those, the Waka TV app download APK is the way in: one file, downloaded straight from us, that installs the full Waka TV app in about a minute.

This guide explains what the Waka TV APK is, three ways to install it, what Android will ask you along the way, and how to fix the errors people run into most.

What is the Waka TV APK?

An APK (Android Package Kit) is the installer file Android apps come in. When you install an app from the Play Store, Android downloads and installs an APK behind the scenes; with a direct APK, you do the same thing yourself.

The Waka TV app APK installs the same player you'd get from Google Play, where it's listed as Zest Player IBO. The file is called ZestPlayer.apk and is currently about 47 MB. It's free; to watch, you log in with your Waka TV package or free-trial details.

If your device does have Google Play, use that — it's simpler and updates itself. The APK is for everything else.

Before you start

  • Use the official link. Get the Waka TV app download APK only from our download page or Downloader code 3580576 — never from a random APK site. Our post on APKPure and Uptodown explains why.
  • Check storage. You need roughly 150 MB free: the APK itself plus room for the installed app.
  • Have your login ready. You'll need the details we sent you on WhatsApp to start watching.

Method 1: Download the APK on the device itself

This works on Android phones, tablets and TV boxes with a web browser.

  1. Open the browser on the device and go to our download page.
  2. Tap Download APK. The file ZestPlayer.apk saves to your Downloads folder.
  3. Open it from the download notification, or from the Files app → Downloads.
  4. Android will say your browser isn't allowed to install apps. Tap Settings, switch on Allow from this source, then go back.
  5. Tap Install, then Open.
  6. Log in with your Waka TV details.

Method 2: Use the Downloader app (TVs and boxes)

Typing a web address with a TV remote is slow, so on Fire TV Sticks, Android TVs and TV boxes the Downloader app is easier:

  1. Install Downloader from your device's app store.
  2. Allow Downloader to install unknown apps (on Fire TV: Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → Install Unknown Apps).
  3. Open Downloader, type 3580576 and press Go.
  4. Choose Install, then Done, and Delete the leftover file.

This downloads exactly the same file as the button on our website.

Method 3: Install from a USB stick

Some TV boxes have no usable browser and can't install Downloader. You can still download the file on a computer and carry it over:

  1. On your computer, open our download page and download the APK.
  2. Copy ZestPlayer.apk onto a USB flash drive.
  3. Plug the flash drive into the TV box.
  4. Open the box's file manager (often called Files, File Manager or File Browser) and find the flash drive.
  5. Select ZestPlayer.apk, allow the file manager to install unknown apps when asked, and choose Install.

If your box has no file manager at all, install one from its app store first — or contact us on WhatsApp and we'll suggest another route.

Tips for installing with only a TV remote

TV boxes and Android TVs are built for watching, not for installing files, so a few habits make the job easier:

  • Use Downloader rather than the browser. Typing seven digits is far quicker than typing a web address letter by letter.
  • Plug in a USB keyboard or air mouse if you have one — most TV boxes accept them, and they make menus and pop-ups much easier to handle.
  • Look for the Install button at the bottom of the screen. On some boxes the permission pop-up and the Install button sit off-screen; press down on the remote to reach them.
  • Be patient on the first launch. The first time the app loads your channels and movie library it can take a little longer than usual.
  • Restart the box afterwards if menus feel sluggish — it clears memory used during the install.

What "install unknown apps" means

Android protects you by blocking apps installed from outside the Play Store until you give permission. On modern Android versions, that permission is given per app: you're allowing your browser, Files app or Downloader — not every app — to install APKs.

It's safe to allow this for the app you're using to install Waka TV. Afterwards you can switch it off again in Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps if you prefer.

After installing: first launch

When you open the app for the first time:

  1. Enter the login details we sent you on WhatsApp, exactly as written (they're case-sensitive).
  2. Give it a moment to load your channels, movies and series.
  3. You'll land on the home screen with Live, Movies, Series, Catch Up, Playlists and Settings, plus your username and expiry date.
